Official Name Change Process
Complete the Required Forms: Fill out the CG-1258 form to update the National Vessel Documentation Center’s database with your new vessel name.
Address Liens or Mortgages: If your vessel has a mortgage or lien, obtain permission from the mortgagee or lienholder before changing the name.
Renew Vessel Documentation: Completing the form will renew your Vessel Documentation for one year, with an option to extend for multiple years.
Display the New Name: Ensure your vessel's registered name is displayed at all times.
